Following the return of ‘Speedball 2′ to the video game arena last month, another wily 20-year veteran ‘Final Fantasy III’ has dusted off its magic wand, chosen its finest walking shoes, and promptly summoned up the number one position in March.
Kairosoft’s follow-up to its well-received ‘Game Dev Story’, meanwhile, traded consoles and coders for saunas and solariums, ‘Hot Springs Story’ more than content to bathe in the limelight of third. ‘The Angry Birds’ flock, for once, had to settle for something other than the top branch of the chart, though the Rio-based spin-off still garnered muchos kudos.
At the launch of iPad 2 a few weeks ago, Apple debuted its music creation software ‘GarageBand’. And whilst the iPhone community waits patiently for this keyboard hobbyist’s dream app to filter down to the 3.5-inch touchscreen, ‘Guitar World Lick of the Day’ and ‘iBone – the Perfect Trombone’ competently fill the void this month. For those with less lofty sonic ambitions, Bome Software’s ‘After the Beep!’ supplies the tools for leaving ‘zany’, memorable – and brilliantly misleading – voicemail messages.
