People have been talking about a possible time when Sony would be making some sort of announcement for a painful while now but it would seem that the rumour mill once again took it a little too far. Sony say that the gossips have been seriously exaggerated.
Sony reps spoke to The Wall Street Journal and denied that the company was planning to make a reveal at the upcoming E3 trade show.
They went on to make it very clear that they would be sticking to their original vision for PS3 which is – a product with a 10 year life cycle.
“We are not making any announcements at E3,” said Kaz Hirai, who oversees Sony’s gaming and consumer electronics division, during a roundtable event at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show. “I’ve always said a 10-year life cycle for PS3, and there is no reason to go away from that.”
While some might be bleak about the lack of news about the PlayStation 4, it’s not entirely unexpected — especially with the PlayStation 3 finally beginning to gain momentum due to its high-end graphics capabilities and other features that were ahead of the curve when it was first released.
