We have a look at the upcoming Sims 3 Supernatural expansion pack to see if it’s worth getting excited about.
The Sims is one of EA’s most successful franchises to date and the developers are continually looking for ways to push the envelope and give players new and exciting ways to engage with the Sims universe. The world we live in is dynamic and unpredictable, but there is one thing that you can always count on – a new Sims expansion pack. Most of the time these exapansions provide additional in-game content / items / stuff for your Sims to buy and play with, but every now and then EA comes with more than that. Their upcoming Sims 3 expansion Supernatural looks to be the most exciting one yet.
We know how popular supernatural entities are at the moment with movies and shows like Twilight, Secret Circle, Vampire Diaries, True Blood and The Walking Dead attracting millions of viewers world wide. What these shows miss is the magic of experiencing what its like to be a zombie/faerie/vampire for yourself. Enter Sims 3 Supernatural.
Much like previous The Sims expansion packs, Supernatural will require you to begin a new town (in this case it is called Moonlight Falls) when you start it. So you begin in much the same way as you would any other Sims game, by creating a family and then setting them loose on a household somewhere. The twist here is that you can create individual Sims with various Supernatural abilities and races. For instance, if you wanted a Vampire Sim, you are finally able to do so. Players will be able to create Sims as the following – Vampires, Werewolves, Fairies, Ghosts, Wizards and Witches. Lets have a closer look at two of these supernatural races:
Witches
In this game, witches are powerful supernaturals with magical abilities that can be used for good or for evil. Witches who possess the “good” trait will tend to cast beneficial spells, while those who possess the “evil” trait will tend to cast nasty curses. However, both good and bad witches are naturally gifted in the magic arts and are capable of casting a variety of spells that range from the healing to the horrifying. As witches become more experienced spell casters, they will progress from simple charms to more potent spells with surprising effects, including the ability to turn Sims into toads or raise the dead by turning ghosts into lumbering zombies! Witches can show off their powers by dueling with other witches, casting spells and counter-spells with impressive speed. This definitely sounds like the best Sims expansion yet… dueling witches? Yes please.
Witches can be created directly in CAS (Create-A-Sim) and come with various customization options that go beyond the typical green-skinned, wart-covered hag. Male, female, old, young, ugly, beautiful—players can design their witch in any number of ways, then choose just the right model of broom and take off to the magic broom arena to test out some stellar stunts. Witches also use magical wands to channel their powers and can upgrade their basic wand to a more advanced version with distinct effects on their spell casting.
Vampires
Sims should certainly be wary of witches, especially with the rise of the full moon, when their powers are strongest. However, they should also watch out for vampires, the dark and passionate predators who feast on the blood of the living, turning ordinary Sims into one of their kind with a single bite. Vampires tend to stalk the night and hunt for victims, aided by their mesmerizing mind-control abilities and mastery of seduction. Vampires age more slowly than ordinary Sims, gain skills faster and can run at great speeds for long distances without fatigue.
Like witches and other supernatural Sims, vampires can be created in CAS and are fully customizable from the start of the game. Vampires are brooding and intense, with a dangerous, sexy vibe that drives other Sims crazy. Ordinary Sims who long to possess these traits—or who fall in love with a vampire—can ask to be turned by undergoing a special ritual performed in a dark and secluded place. While vampires prefer the dark of night, they can also venture into the sunlight when protected by the powerful Vampiric Sunscreen elixir.
Overall this latest expansion pack The Sims 3 Supernatural Expansion Pack is shaping up to be an amazing addition to the The Sims franchise. It adds a plethora of new features and items to the games inventory, as well as giving players new ways to interact with their Sims. This is definitely an expansion pack designed for fans of the series, as well as those that particularly enjoy the aforementioned tide of supernatural themed movies and TV series’. This pack brings some excitingly fresh gameplay which makes it a must have for any Sims fan.
