UPDATE: This feature is now live! Zip across to Google.com to try it out.
According to blogger Rob Ousbey (via Mashable) Google is testing a new search feature: live-updating search results. Basically as you type in a search query Google will start returning results and update them for each keystroke getting more specific as you complete your phrase. It’s still being tested among a very small selection of users.
Judging by the video below this sounds like it could be a really cool feature. The main challenge that Google will face is speed, will Google be able to keep up with your typing? Will it be annoying? What if you have a slow internet connection?
The positives for this are quite obvious, super quick searching and no need to push enter (how lazy are we getting?) Also according to the video as well Google’s contextual ads will also be dynamically served per keystroke. This makes the term impressions seem a little out of sorts – as most ads would only display for a second while you are typing – definitely not a true impression.
